Rose early out of my tent, took 20 steps to the lakeshore to take advantage of the stillness of the scene and get the orange sunrise light on the mountain reflecting off the glassy water. The setup with the Fujifilm X-H1 and the stunning XF16mm f/1.4 R WR that is a full frame equivalent of a 24mm. Manual setting on the X-H1 at ISO200 f5.6 @ 1/60th sec. 0 EV ... Looking at the east face of Mt. Lassen on a calm morning. This is the side of most impact of the 1915 eruption. That is my Fujifilm X-H1 on the tripod looking at a perfect mirroring of the volcano. Shot with my X100T… (continued on second photo)

May 1915 was the last time California had a volcanic eruption, second to last with Mt. St. Helen in Washington state being the last in 1980. Touring the mountain of Lassen you can find continuous active features on the mountain itself with steam vents and bubbling volcanic mud pits and hot springs. Well worth a visit if in the area including a hiking trail to the summit for amazing 360* views and the aftermath terrain of the 1915 event. ~ Archived eruption photo credit to NPS (US National Park Service)

The interior, looking towards the altar, of the chapel. Yellow ceiling structure with a matching yellow area behind the altar at the crucifix. Red carpet at the altar. One centre aisle with rows of seating on either side. Quite a small chapel.

Our Lady of the Valley Chapel, Black Valley, Beaufort, Kerry. Noisy thanks to being handheld in a darkish interior with a camera/lens that’s not fond of high ISOs. Still, worth keeping.
