I don’t remember being a big defender of #Zanghai? It was a well made drama, but I didn’t love it like I do this one (I didn’t include it in my top 10 dramas from last year)

I think an issue with #Zanghai was that the further we got from his revenge origin story, the less his vengeance motive felt meaningful for (at least some of) the audience
Partly because of this it became a little repetitive & turgid in the last third
But it finished well, & it looked a treat

Interesting - in the #cdrama Cup final #Zanghai & #LegendoftheFemaleGeneral are separated by a single point! (54-53 when I last looked)

To cut a long story short - while #Zanghai is the superior production (in terms of it’s cinematography, it’s structured storytelling, Xiao Zhan’s acting, & some iconic scenes), I just loved the characters more in #LegendoftheFemaleGeneral 🥰

I don’t mind 😅 - I quite like a bit of fantasy mixed in with a sober story (it’s similar to #Zanghai in this respect)

Wow can’t do it. Dropping #ZangHai. Hate to say it, but I haven’t been able to get through an XZ drama without reverting to the recaps in a looooong while. Luckily he’s so beloved that his dramas always get recapped thoroughly 😂

#ZangHai is good too though, so I don’t want to put you off. & it’s great to have a drama-group you can talk with about an ongoing drama

I’m avoiding #Feud because I think if I switch I won’t come back to #Zanghai. My cdrama-watching friend group all watched it, so it’s a little bit like homework for me to watch it too. I’m hoping once he starts interacting with the FL and the marquis second son more, I’ll be more invested

Btw, if #ZangHai isn’t hitting for you & you’re looking around for something else, you may enjoy the complicated plot in #Feud - it’s a drama that on the one hand is easy enough to watch, but on the other requires continual reappraisal & reflection. It’s quite unusual in this respect
