Yeah no Tansy beetles at the Yorkshire museum which is a massive shame for conservation, you have to go onto the Dame Judi Dench walk along the Ouse towards Clifton bridge. They start appearing at a point level with St Peter’s School, for next time you visit. I see you found the Wall art.

I don’t think I can offer any more than Ian has, other than its a Platycheirus female. Its frons do look dusted, not easy to identify females, males with their distinctive front legs are much easier. Was there anything that you noticed that suggested manicatus rather than say tarsalis?

Yes they don’t visit too many flowers they dance delicately through shady areas of vegetation. Beautiful to watch.

I am sure there will be a few more in the coming weeks. I just found it odd that I hadn’t seen any so far this year. Seems from comments that they are around.

Interesting that you spotted some in Feb and March and none since - I have an outing planned tomorrow maybe I will come across one finally.

Thats good, your a little bit further South than myself so glad some overwintered there. Should take long for numbers to move north then.

I totally agree James I would have expected some locally to have lasted out the winter in S.Yorkshire but I have spotted any. They will be migrating over soon I have no doubt to replenish our numbers in the UK

Thanks James - Marmalades is something I often see a lot of, M.auricollis not so much but I have spotted the latter this year. I wonder where no marmalade about near me its a bit odd.
