The morning mist hovers over the silhouetted vista as the distant mountains are woken by pre daybreak light. The waterway is calm as it holds the reflection while edged with auburn grasses.
The morning arrived 📷🕊️ …
A wall on the horizon, people just visible in the middle section.
If you get there late in the day it’s quite crowded on the Great Wall.

Digital ink drawing of a sparrow perched amidst some small branches. The bird has a black and white striped crown, and is various shades of beige and brown on the body, tail, and wings. Pale blue-grey background. Signed CMY in the lower left.
I didn't make it out with my camera today, so I drew you a bird: White-crowned sparrow.
A bit of sparkle to start the week off with. Taken this morning in St Michael's tower on Glastonbury Tor.
An action shot of an Osprey in mid-flight, captured from a side-profile perspective against a soft, blurred grayish-blue background. The bird's wings are spread wide; the near wing is angled downward, showcasing intricate rows of dark brown and tan feathers with a barred pattern on the underside. Its body is primarily white with brown mottling, and its head features a distinctive dark eye stripe and a sharp, hooked black beak. Its talons are tucked neatly beneath its tail as it glides with focused precision. The wings furthest away is stretched outright ans down as it flies and turns.
Managed to be almost eye-level with this Osprey 🦅 (I was on a cliff) ⛰️ There’s something incredible about seeing the world from the same height as a hunting raptor. 🤩

Exciting day today in the garden. Found this beautiful female Ashy mining bee (Andrena cineraria) resting on a rock near some sandy bare ground in the mini meadow.

Cory’s shearwater for #SuperSeabirdSunday
As it’s my ‘local’ butterfly it had to be the swallowtail for the final day of #butterflyweek
Happy Sunday. How nice to see the sunshine again today #Sunday
Today is the 2 year anniversary of when I met the Ravens. They just checked me out from a distance then! Here is some of my fav footage: them courting, feeding each other, barrel rolling and some of their vocalisations. They are the most amazing birds and I am so lucky to have them!
A Palladian style bridge over a lake surrounded by green trees and sloping fields.
A nice quiet Sunday morning. Yesterday B and I did our usual walk to Prior Park for the first time in about a month. It has gone much greener in that time - spring has definitely sprung! Have a good day! xx
Nice arrival of Wheatears in the Lowestoft area this afternoon with 14 in the clifftop fields at Corton and 4 on Lowestoft Outer Harbour wall.
Early morning walk to Felbrigg NT just as the sun cast an orange glow across the sky. Light shimmering on the lake through trees which are now beginning to regain their leaves. Mute Swan in pursuit of last years juveniles in an attempt to make them leave the lake.
20 years since rubbish views of the only Ross's Gull I've seen, it was nice to finally get another one, and a bonus in Norfolk. Eventually showed well! #NorfolkBirding #rarebirdsUK @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social
Thank you, it’s been good to share.
Golden rays. Another one from this morning, taken from Wearyall Hill in Glastonbury, about an hour after sunrise.
Brown hairstreak (top) and purple hairstreak not often seen together. Alners Gorse in Dorset.

The super spotted eye of orange-tip butterflies, this male is roosting, where he pulls his wings in to just show the camouflage lower underwing to sit quietly on plants in plain site unnoticed

A Holly Blue (Celastrina argiolus) is perched on the side of a wildflower. Its small body and antennae are clearly visible. The closed wings are white with black spots. The background is a natural green, out of focus. The Holly Blue is often the first blue butterfly to be spotted in spring, as its first generation begins to fly as early as late March or April. The undersides of the wings are characteristically light grey to almost white with a slight bluish tinge. They are covered with many small, deep black spots, which, however, do not have orange markings or ‘eyes’, distinguishing it from many other blue butterfly species. Size: It is a delicate butterfly with a wingspan of approximately 23 to 30 millimetres. Upper side: The upper side of the wings is light blue in both sexes, although the females also have a broad, black-grey margin on the forewings.
A Holly Blue for #ButterflyWeek 🦋
Wishing you a great weekend 🫶
