The "Illingworth Mausoleum" located within Undercliffe Cemetery in Bradford, It is a Grade II listed Victorian-era funerary monument designed in an Egyptian Revival style. The structure features prominent architectural elements such as sphinxes flanking the entrance and a carved winged sun disk above the door. It was built around 1860 for the Illingworth family, who were wealthy local worsted spinners. The mausoleum was prefabricated in Scotland from grey granite before being transported to Bradford by rail, sea, and canal. Image courtesy of Alex McGregor (Geograph Project) CC BY-SA 2.0
seen in obelisks at Holbeck and Undercliffe cemeteries. Even smaller structures, like a mausoleum-like reservoir house near Hebden Bridge, echo this influence. #architecture #Egyptian
