Ri Cruin Cairn. The image shows a woodland clearing with the trees surrounding it partly in spring leaf. The clearing is largely covered by an extensive but low pile of large stones, which seems to curve round from bottom middle to mid right of the frame in a horseshoe. The scene is in sunshine.
Ri Cruin Cairn, all that remains of a structure built some 4,000 years ago as the burial for a single individual and one of the large number of ancient monuments in Kilmartin Glen, north of Lochgilphead in Argyll. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

A grey day. Ollie (a bearded white man in a purple jacket and dark shorts) examine this tall and quite impressive standing stone. It looks very rectangular from this angle but is pointy if you look at it from where he's standing. Hills in the background, long grass in the field. The stone is around 3m tall and was originally one of a pair. It's covered in lichen.

Black and white photograph of a grave slab, the upper portion of which bears a latin inscription to the effect that this commemorates one Archibald Malcolm (also known as Archibald MacCallum) who died in 1685 in the 80th year of his age. In the middle is a coat of arms, supported from beneath by two angels, in which the shield bears four stag's heads surrounding a saltire that is decorated with five five-pointed stars. Above the shield is a helmet from which emanates a banner bearing the motto AD ARDUA TENDIT (it tends to difficulty). Immediately beneath the shield may be seen an hourglass and a heart, both on their sides. In the lowest portion of the slab on the left is a globe inscribed with the letters M, AM, and IM, while on the right there is an open book. More information, together with an excellent 3D scan of the slab may be found at https://blog.historicenvironment.scot/2022/10/scotlands-historic-gravestones/
Tombstone of Archibald Malcolm, Kilmartin Churchyard. The arms may be blazoned thus: Argent on a saltire azure between four stag's heads erased gules five mullets or (tinctures inferred). #TombTuesday #Gravestones #Cemeteries #Kilmartin #Heraldry #CoatOfArms #BlackAndWhite #Monochrome #Photography
Ollie stands with his back to the camera, between two stones, arms raised. The stones are roughly rectangular and slightly taller than he is. The lean, but you can't see that from this angle. The gap between them aligns with a gap in the hills beyond. They are set in rough moorland with patches of reeds, and it's a cloudy moment on a sunny autumn day.
