Another book stand finished, made this one a little more decorative with stop chamfers, and a sloped base, it's all made from reclaimed oak and the drawer handle is antique (1910) and the wood has been finished with a dark wax

Almost finished this lovely correspondence box, I've made a new escutcheon, and a key for the lock, replaced the pen tray, and the small piece of wood next to it and the ribbon, it just needs a clean and polish, it dates to c1910

Finished the book stand I was working on, it's made from reclaimed oak, and an old oak drawer, it can hold a few books, so it's not too big, but it's still a useful size, just need to figure out what colour to finish it in.

Pleased with how this lamp turned out, made a new column & top to give the lamp more height, it started out as a shop hat stand, from the 1920's / 30's no idea when it was turned into a lamp, guessing it got cut down to make drilling through for the wire easier

A lovely little marquetry box with a geometric design and walnut veneer, saved from the bin, the inside has been lined and the outside refinished, it has a few signs of age, but then it is the best part of 100 years old, useful for storing treasure.

Another job done, this lovely foot stall is made from walnut and carved with a floral motif all round, sitting on 4 carved feet, the covering is made from tiny glass beads hand sewn, the stool dates to mid to late 1800's

No only the sides, no reason you can't add a groove for the glass along the base though.

Just finished giving this art deco picture frame some tlc, I've made similar designs to this, but this one dates to 1920/1930, made from Oak, larger than similar ones I've seen from the same time, the size gives it extra presence.

I'm not usually one for things like this, but this is quite nice, it dates to around 1900 very art nouveau in style, the blue glass is in great condition, and the base is silver plated and has a lovely design on it, it's a nice thing.

Recently finished mahogany case for a vintage barometer movement, the original case was not salvageable, so I made a new one from reclaimed mahogany and it now has an art deco feel, would have ended up in landfill otherwise.

Another box finished, it's a lap desk / clerks desk, quite old and handmade, I've replaced the lid support using an old piece of pine and fitted a small catch, it's a nice thing that makes a great box for an artist.

Easy repair for this wooden lamp base, top section has some damage (it was me) off to the lathe, the idea is to remove the damaged section, make a joining point for a new top, made of mahogany like the rest of the lamp

I've seen quite a few clocks of this type about, most are not working this one is, dates to between 1939 to 1950, mains powered, this version has a telltale that rotates at 15 second intervals, keeps perfect time, a lovely little Smiths mantle clock.

THis hour glass was produced in partnership with the National maritime historical society and Franklin mint to commemorate 125 years of the Cutty Sark, it is very decorative and reminds me of Jules Verne stories like 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea #steampunk #julesverne

A curious and interesting sculpture, not sure what it is meant to represent, to me I see a bird, a fish, maybe a whale, and from certain angles it reminds me of a piece of cloth in the wind, I guess that is why art is objective.
