A very small butterfly on some phlox flowers. Mostly a greyish color, but with a red band, partially interrupted, towards the outer edge of the wing. There are also some spots and some antennae-like protrusions, which mimic eyes and antennae to distract predators.

The petals are pink, with some variation in shade The center contains yellow stamens that are short and thread‑like. A beautiful little Anna's hummingbird in her tiny, perfect nest on top of a round piece of wood at the top of an old wind chime hanging by dirty string from a white porch overhang. Her feathers are in lovely shades of pale mauve and seafoam green. The nest looks almost perfectly round and is decorated with lichen that match her feathers, moss, and maybe white dog hair.

Coming soon: New hummingbirds

This tiny beauty made her perfect little nest on my neighbor's wind chimes. When she showed it to me, I thought the bird and nest were a decoration, but they're real. 🥺

The peregrine's talons are out and her eyes are locked onto the pelican's beak. The pelican has its wings extended and is banking away, but that's like a minivan trying to outmaneuver a Lotus: ain't gonna happen.
