Moths not doing so well but fingers crossed for the next three days. Dippers showing much better. #MothsMatter #Teammoth
If you've not seen this talk by Professor Marc Holderied (Bristol Uni) from the last Devon moth group meeting, it really is fantastic. All about how moths defend themselves from bats. Thank you to @richardfoxbc.bsky.social for the heads up. #TeamMoth

Just about my first good night of the year 40/12 with a mini theme Oak Beauty, Brindled Beauty and a lovely Pine Beauty, star of the show and lifer for me was the Small Eggar a real good looking moth. Steven
Top view of a moth whose forewings are a rich brown colour, with several wavy transverse white lines edged with multiple black chevrons. Each forewing has two black dots ringed with red in the central area as well as small red flecks and dots across the wings.
Proteuxoa sanguinipuncta - Blood-spotted Noctuid
Our first Blood-spotted Noctuid for this year, seen in our Perth Hills garden in mid-March. The striking red pattern on the forewings makes these moths easily recognisable.

VC24 video footage taken today of a Peregrine at the top of our church steeple. Now it looks like I can actually put a moth trap out tonight some times you just have one of those days.

Just when you think nothing is happening I get a call from the park ranger Sam Flowers at Emberton Country Park there’s a moth on the gate house wall.
What a moth Black-spotted Chestnut. To say it made our day is an understatement.
Congratulations Ruth

4 x Mottled Umber all within 18inches of a wall light this morning. A great example of how variable they can be.
