Org One is a program assisting in the creation of reference genomes for endangered species - and that’s what I was referencing.

Absolutely amazing moment: the #FrozenZoo turned 50 today, and so many amazing scientists were here in San Diego to celebrate 🧪@sandiegozoo.bsky.social

Look for Jeff Nivala’s work from the UofWashington - he’s the primary research consultant on this work as I understand this for ONT. Super exciting progress from his team!

3/ Genomes from wildlife can be T2T just 3 years after the first complete human genome in 2022. An ncredible pace of dvlpmnt and a fully local sequencing solution requiring no sample export. #democratising #genomics. #NanoporeConf🧪

2/ As national #biobanks emerge globally, we are asked often “Why save bio samples? What can you do with them?” - well, I no longer have to say we are saving them for the future. Tomorrow is here today. Nanopore-only #reference #genomes can be T2T AND in situ!🧪

1/ There’s just no doubt - the future of biobanking and de novo genome sequencing lies in a single (higher throughput) flowcell running ULK and pore-C together + hifiasm + dorado polish + teloseq! #oneflowcell #onegenome #orgone #NanoporeConf 🧪

Absolutely brilliant work at GOSH on targeted rapid metagenomics for same day results on respiratory infections at a hospital. 30 new centres across the UK to adopt this. #nextgen medicine. #Nanoporeconf

Project GargantION; maintains all of the richness of existing flow cell chemistries, but is based on voltage sensing; about 1 genome per hour per flow cell.

Peptides are being detected directly, folks. PEPTIDES. #LakmalJayasinghe is delivering on his promise. Accurate and sensitive - peptides are grabbed by two DNA handles and run through the pore. #brush up on your #proteomics. This WILL happen. 🧪#nanoporeconf @nanoporetech.com

Ok. 🤯🤯🤯

It’s not here yet, but it will be. 🧪#consgen is never going to be the same - this doesn’t only belong in a doctor’s office. Sample to sequence in a single device @nanoporetech.com #nanoporeconf

My journey with @nanoporetech.com began in 2018 - really glad to have stuck it out till today, for faster and more reliable pores/enzymes. Here to see how the latest tech can impact #conservation #genomics.🧪🐾

Does anyone know what snake this might be? Location #kenya, #nairobi. It’s been killed :/ I’m trying to advise on better approaches to the next snake sighting here🐾🧪

Beautiful and prickly, these cholla cacti, or teddy bear cacti, actually launch at you unprovoked. This stand blooms where the Mojave transitions into the Colorado desert in #joshuatreenp and is stunning. What’s more, most are thought to be identical clones of parents with the same DNA 🧪🐾

One of those things has a very cute face - bottom right. This is the least scientific response to it, but I do appreciate your #virosky #bluet nevertheless!

Portable sequencing as a teaching tool in conservation and biodiversity research As biodiversity loss continues to accelerate, there is a critical need for education and biomonitoring across the globe. Portable technologies allow for in situ molecular biodiversity monitoring that ...

We wrote a paper on that! pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC... so far, it’s been life-changing. Not the easiest learning curve, but once you get over a few bumps, it’s hard to use anything else!

Sorry :( it’s admittedly really only maybe interesting to a few people :/ sort of the lot of doctorate holders … but if this is something you really want to understand I can get you there..
