Beautiful and prickly, these cholla cacti, or teddy bear cacti, actually launch at you unprovoked. This stand blooms where the Mojave transitions into the Colorado desert in #joshuatreenp and is stunning. What’s more, most are thought to be identical clones of parents with the same DNA 🧪🐾

We wrote a paper on that! pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC... so far, it’s been life-changing. Not the easiest learning curve, but once you get over a few bumps, it’s hard to use anything else!

Sorry :( it’s admittedly really only maybe interesting to a few people :/ sort of the lot of doctorate holders … but if this is something you really want to understand I can get you there..
