A wonder of macro is spotting things that would be missed with the naked eye. This picture of two Cryptocephalus aureolus? beetles at Cerne Abbas revealed a stowaway. It's an Oil Beetle larva. Well worth looking at their fascinating life cycle!

A female Hercules Beetle among the dried leaves. Her shell is a light green with spots of black. A rare sight in my garden.

It’s #TenebTuesday! Another “pancaked” #Adelostomini —Stips sp.—photographed at night near Gobabeb Namib Research Institute. The adult beetles spend the days buried in the sand, emerging at night to forage on the dunes. #Coleoptera #Tenebrionidae
