And actually I was just finishing my meal when I saw the light changing with the sun coming out (it had been overcast) so I grabbed my camera and abandoned my wife (who was still eating, she is very understanding) to run out of the restaurant and down to the beach to catch these sunset photos.

Yes, it’s famous for its huge waves that at certain times of year & with the right conditions form out beyond the lighthouse point on the right side of my photo. But it was relatively low surf while we were there.
This northern cardinal was going nuts attacking the side #mirror of my neighbor’s truck. He often obnoxiously runs & revs this truck in the driveway for no apparent reason, and otherwise frequently generates very loud power tool noises from his garage in the evening, so I was cheering the #bird on.
I don’t recall the name of the place we ate there, it was somewhere near the bottom funicular station, but their caldeirada de peixe was excellent.

It does have a patch of red on its otherwise white belly but point taken, I suppose when it was first recorded the obvious name was already taken by another woodpecker species.
From the ERCOT website (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) - on 3/23 over 75% of the electricity in the state was coming from Solar + Wind sources. So it’s interesting that the maligned (liberal/woke/whatever) green power sources are providing most of the power in this red (for now) state.
