A colurised Victorian representation of the baptism of the Viking king Guthrum in 878, following his defeat by King Alfred the Great. The illustration shows Guthrum kneeling while being baptized, with King Alfred of Wessex present as his godfather. This event marked a crucial moment in Anglo-Saxon history, leading to a lasting peace treaty between the Saxons and the Danes in Britain.

With a bit of rounding, comes out to about 30% or slightly above, which I think is about right.
I think #Vikingancestry (I think not considering ones of #British, #Irish or #AngloSaxon origin, some #Angles and #Saxons will have been Viking. I think it could well account for 15% of my #autosomalDNA.
Just the latest of my AncestryDNA results from last year.
I did a sort of estimate of #AngloSaxon ancestry, assume 40% for the areas of #Yorkshire (labelled #EastMidlands), #NorthEastEngland and #SouthEastEnglandandNorthwesternEngland (prob #Norfolk in my case) & #Denmark and around 1/7 for ones labelled as #CelticandGaelic.
The River Seven thwarted out visit to Odda's Chapel (C1086, #AngloSaxon Early #Medieval) , Deerhurst, Tewksbury, though the adjacent Church of St Mary is amazing.
My toy drone had a good view.
The flood water was getting up to the small hill that the chapel and church are on.

We’ve got a very unique piece to show you today! As mentioned a few posts back, we’ve noticed how well the Sutton Hoo helmets fit over the Woden Head pendants, so I riveted the two together and gave this new piece a nice gold plate finish.✨
