Its enamel-and-steel mural by John Laberge depicts the face of Jesus with uplifted eyes during his crucifixion at the bottom. The resurrection and ascension are above. Critics dubbed the image of Jesus at the bottom the “Googley-Eyed Jesus” and for years a tree was positioned in front of Jesus to obscure the view.

The religious subject and the fact that I was facing east with a deep late-afternoon sky suggested a more dramatic treatment for this shot.
