The chapter book market is always incredibly tricky. It's just such a limited space, kids move in and out of it so quickly, and the series there tend to dominate the shelves. But there's always hope. I think it's just finding the right fit at the right time. #askkidlit

I don't think that's really the case. They do look up track, and that will be a factor (not the only factor) they consider, but they won't ding you because your first publication wasn't super high-profile. #AskKidLit

I think they're probably figuring it out as they go, and it may be a combo of the two. But given sales channels and infrastructure, shorter MG is more likely where they'll be investing their money. #askkidlit

I think it depends on how passionate the editor or agent is for the project. If they love it and want to move forward anyway, it's easy enough to adjust the label. If it's just something they notice, but not a must-have for them, they may just not mention it. #AskKidLit

I think it depends on what you’re looking for. Sometimes an agent can help you negotiate the contract, even if you already have an offer. And they can help you down the road. But that may mean giving up a percentage of the deal. If you think you’ve got it, maybe that’s not what you want. #askkidlit
