I don't even know what to make of this.

Every day is a new atrocity.

A fractured, surreal dive into media, war, and sexual obsession. Jonathan Weiss adapts J.G. Ballard’s novel into a disorienting fever dream, blending archival footage with psychosexual breakdowns. Uncompromising, disturbing, and pure Ballardian madness. #AtrocityExhibition #JGBallard

Crash! (1971)

- a preview post for an old “Illustration of the Day” series from the other place, as that account may not exist indefinitely and I’d like to preserve at least one IoD series, reposting it all here.
The image shows a cover of an album for cigarette cards, entitled “Motor Cars”, but emended to “Mechanized Age” in a hand that has also written “Charles Peter Stewart” across the top of the page; the same name in the middle of the page, made with a handheld stamp that also has the date 19th June 1940. Ink sketches of trees, a motor car, and a shepherd printed on the cover.

[see alt text for context]
- astonishing stuff from young C P Stewart: inserting cigarette cards of the Mechanized Age collection into the Motor Cars album, with a result that is both subversive futurism & anarchic, disruptive satire on incipient 1940s petro-consumerism.
