We didn't know it was #batappreciationday yesterday! Bats are really amazing and we're happy we get the opportunity to express ourselves as a Noivern from time to time!
Here's one of our favourite photos we took of ourselves in VRChat as Lavender! 🦇❤️
A dense roost of bats in a stone building, with their eyes glowing white
It's #BatAppreciationDay, but sometimes there are almost TOO MANY #bats to appreciate.
🦇🤩🦇🤩🦇🤩🦇🤩🦇🤩🦇🤩🦇🤩🦇🤩🦇🤩🦇🤩
#MammalWatching #WildIndia
A fulvous fruit bat flies with its wings at the top of their stoke, with a baby clinging to its belly. In the background, four smaller bats cling to a stone wall.
As if it wasn't incredible enough to modify their hands so a wing is formed between the fingers, #bats can also fly with their babies attached. 🦇
Look closely! 👀

Great photo Sandy.
I host a good colony of them under my roof in Jakarta. Up to 12 bats certain days. Protecting them from scared or misinformed neighbours.

It’s #batappreciationday! 🦇
So here’s a throwback to this drawing of a Mumma Noivern and her babies~!
Drawn using procreate~
A leather-gloved hands holds a bat with nein-orange fur and a pink, wrinkled naked face, looking into the camera
It's #BatAppreciationDay.
Bats are an incredibly diverse group (around 1500 species - the second largest group of #mammals), performing incredibly important roles in their ecosystems. 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
Plus, some of them are bright orange. 🧡

Happy #BatAppreciationDay! 🦇
Mouse-eared #bat skulls are absurdly small, but utterly fierce.
That's a five pence piece on the right (which is 18mm across).
I appreciate the heck out of this bat skull. #bats

It's #BatAppreciationDay! This season, show love to that special bat in your life by refusing to cooperate with law enforcement when they ask too many questions about suspected illicit activities!
Cream-colored garment with embroidered black and blue stylized flying bats arranged in right-left symmetry from the base of the collar to the hem. Mounted on display at museum exhibit. Photographed in 2019 at The Life of Animals in Japanese Art exhibition at the National Gallery of Art DC. “In the West, bats - nocturnal in habit and denizens of dark places tend to be viewed as unlucky, but in China they have long been considered an auspicious motif (one of the characters used to write the word "bat" is a homonym for good fortune). The Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjüro VII (1791-1859) used bat motifs in his costumes, and the perception of these animals as a chic design element spread rapidly throughout Japan in the nineteenth century. Here a great number of them are arranged in right-left symmetry from the base of the collar to the hem.” The above info is from the official exhibition catalog - the bat kosode is on p.124!

A profile picture of Angela, an anthrofied Noivern with a long mane and hair that goes down to her shoulders and a more draconic-esque snout. Her body faces left while she points her face right while looking at the viewer with the tip of her tongue out in a playful manner and her left arm raised, touching the left side of her nose/cheek with her left index finger. She wears a hot pink crop top, eyeliner in the same color, and a single silver piercing on her right ear (which also is in her left).
Heard it was #batappreciationday, so here's Angela, one of my Noivern characters! She got a new design too :) #myart #noivern
“This artwork comes from an illustration Charley originally did for the Ford Times magazine in May 1968, about a canoe trip down the South Fork of the Cumberland River in Kentucky.” “Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog… Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble. One of these campers might be scaring the others with these lines from Shakespeare recalled from high school. Another might go for the tale of the ancient Indian chief whose spirit was said to haunt the night. At any rate, it’s doubtful the wildlife give a hoot. (Well, maybe a hoot or two!) The bat and bullfrog go about their business, both nocturnal creatures, bat hunting and bullfrog mating, revelling in the darkness. On the other hand, the creeped-out campers seem to huddle ever closer to the embers and each other, delighting in scary tales and s’mores.” - Charley Harper
