A landscape oriented image of yellow and orange and haze as sunset changes the landscape. It’s a frame of layers the first is bracken along the bottom, on the left we have two figures a man and a woman, silhouetted against the fading light but we can see they are bundled up against the cold in coats and woolly hats. Next are trees on a hillside and beyond them more hills and finally the sky.

A landscape oriented image late on a winter afternoon as the sun is setting. A golden glow falls over the land. Ahead we see layers starting with bracken, then a line of trees across the frame followed by a field then a hillside topped with trees and successive fields until the land merges into sky, itself golden.

A landscape oriented image taken in a location known as Beeley Moor on Christmas Day this year (2025). We had a stunning walk with a cold wind but enough sunshine to make up for it.
The image is made up of curving layers. The bottom layer is dead bracken, wonderfully orange in its decline. Amongst it on the left we see a rickety wooden fence. Above the bracken is woodland, again orange can be seen here along with green, red and cream, not leaves as these are long gone, rather the burgeoning buds that will form next year’s leaves seen against the trunks and branches. This woodland begins in the bottom left of the frame and works its way across the image to the top right. Above it on the left we see the distant hillside, verdant green fields dotted with trees. Topping it all is a cloudy sky, fortunately light cloud that allowed the sun to come through and light up all this splendid countryside.

Went in search of heather last week. There's not a huge amount, but just enough to get the picture I was after. Thank you sheep for your 7 seconds of time! #BeeleyMoor #Derbyshire #PeakDistrict #Canon6DMarkII @photohour.bsky.social #loveukweather #appicoftheweek #fsprintmonday #ShareMondays2025
