Was out on the bike yesterday and in a cafe in Stirling when I got a call about a Slavonian grebe on the river in Stirling. After quickly finishing my roll I was soon watching the bird with Ross the finder. An unusual record for this far up the Forth!

A Curlew, which is an elegant brown bird with long legs and beak wades about in some mud

A Redshank, which is an small greyish-brown bird with long orange legs and beak wades about in some mud. The bird is remarkably clean considering the mud it is wading through.

Cycle ride from Portishead to Pill this afternoon. Lots of Redwing seen en-route as usual, two Heron were in a random field along Sheepway; and one Curlew & a few Redshank at destination. Sadly didn't notice any Avocets.
