Common Grackles are glossy blackbirds, but in sunlight, they display iridescent, metallic colors including purple and steel-blue on their heads, and bronzy-purple on their bodies. Males are more vibrant, while females are duller, often appearing dark brown. Both sexes have bright yellow eyes and long, dark tails.
