#Blueskystorians I am looking for good overview histories of socialism (not Marxism) in India, especially the early period.
This may well be the first example of a Soldier's Alphabet — a blend of satire, nationalism, and wit — dating to 1804, well before their common appearance in #FWW trench journals. Anyone got an earlier example?

A book cover with the title in black text at center, The Starving Empire, with imagery of trees and colorful flags surrounding it.
Hi #BlueSkyStorians, fresh praise for "The Starving Empire" is in The Journal of Social History, noting "...by taking on the burden of famine prevention, [Yan] Slobodkin convincingly argues, French experts laid the groundwork for the imperial collapse they sought to prevent." doi.org/10.1093/jsh/...
That is a great #CfP promising to push the #archivalturn further, not least along the dialectic of #archives = sites of scribal power versus of "nescience or unknowing: empires, past and present, were often built on ignorance as much as on knowledge." #histarchives #histempire #blueskystorians

#BlueSkyStorians #SkyStorians Hello all! I'm looking for an image or even a recreation of what a "Virginia Cloth" dress would have looked like during the non-importation and non-exportation protests of the 1760s. Are there any surviving examples floating around in museums?
