In a Franconian garden (southern Germany): Two birds in the branches of a greengage (Rein Claude) tree, half turned away from the viewer, looking to the left. The bird on the left is a female brambling, a visitor from the far north. The bird on the right, a male chaffinch and one of the locals, seems to be looking thoughtfully at its northern guest.

This clip of today's #Brambling at Devon's, Hope's Nose, has the bird give the distinctive nasal 'wheeze' call. A sound often associated with coastal flyovers. It was this that alerted me to its presence on the headland's extremity this morning. #DevonBirds #UKBirding #BirdMigration
