Today our members, supporters and friends cleared, not one but 63 bags of grot from 'The Moors' a fantastic 'wild' space along the banks of the River Colne here in #Colchester, #BritainsFirstCity.

We were really chuffed with our efforts - but we know we barely scratched the surface.

This Colchester business is keeping pop culture fandom alive after 40 years Ace Comics, at 42 Culver Street East, will have its 45th anniversary next month.

Some might call it 'qwerky' or 'specialist' but surely #Colchester, #BritainsFirstCity, needs qwerky, specialist, local independent outlets just as much - if not more - than it needs national and international chains

Work by @EssexHighways at the Albert Roundabout here in #Colchester, #BritainsFirstCity looks to be almost finished.

It seems strange though that the Highways Authority seems to think Colne Bank Avenue is now called North Station Road!!!

We find it interesting that as far back as 1379, the authorities in #Colchester, #BritainsFirstCity

prescribed an area - now Vineyard Street - where prostitution would be allowed - or at least tolerated...

But, as this #OTD snippet highlights, woe betide those who stray...

For today's #AdventDoor from #Colchester #BritainsFirstCity we bring you a reminder of the dark days of #WW2 with this gem.
