The whole plant looking like a leafy hairball with its wiry white roots everywhere except the cedar mounting shingle
#Bulbophyllum odoratissimum. Vaguely fragrant of some kind of melon soap substance. This plant is only loosely associated with the cedar shingle it was given as a mount. Some roots are attached, but the bulk of the plant exists as a hairball in front of the mount.

True confessions. Sometimes I like to tell random people at orchid shows “that’s fragrant” and point to a Bulbophyllum. This particular one smells like truck stop bathroom.

Preparing for the season ahead. I posted this flower on my main account, while I will not have this exact species for sale, I do have a closely allied mini-bulbophyllum with very similar flowers: #Bulbophyllum treschii. These both can be grown in small pots or baskets, but I prefer to mount them.
