I pulled some more prints from my #gelplate on my #horse theme. I was thinking of the extraordinary #paintings on the walls of caves in Southern France created by our ancestors tens of thousands of years ago.

Nerja Cave. For conservation reasons, you can't see the original cave paintings, but the cave itself is very impressive, and there is a virtual reality recreation of the cave paintings.
Around 40,000 years ago, the first modern humans began to squeeze out the Neanderthals. They too lived in caves, and at Nerja there are lots of red and black Palaeolithic cave paintings by modern humans depicting deer, horses, goats, fish and seals, as well as some people.
