A tiny parasitoid wasp, Ormyrus nitidulus, climbs a pond sedge leaf in a garden pond. She is about 5mm long, with a hunched posture and a sharply pointed end to the abdomen. She is metallic blue, blue-green, and gold, with brilliant red eyes, and strongly embossed and patterned gastric tergites. Her larvae parasitise the larvae of the wasp responsible for Knopper galls in English oak trees.
