Coffee County commissioners approve rezoning, authorize regional transit grant application and award truck bid On Sept. 2, 2025 the Coffee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a rezoning request for 2.56 acres at 999 MJ McClelland Road, authorized signing a Section 5311 transit grant application with the Southern Georgia Regional Commission, and awarded a $97,360.96 bid for two Road Department trucks funded by SPLOST VII.

Nach einer komplizierten Operation, bei der der Tumor vollständig entfernt werden konnte, stellten die Ärzte fest, dass es sich um eine besonders gefährliche Form von Krebs handelt. Lilah muss sich nun einer langen und belastenden Behandlung mit Chemotherapie und Stammzelltherapie unterziehen. Ihre Familie verbringt während dieser schweren Zeit jede freie Minute an ihrer Seite im Krankenhaus, um sie zu unterstützen.

Die Mutter, Kathleen Smoot, teilte auf Instagram ein Video, das schnell viral ging. In dem kurzen Clip ist Lilah zu sehen, wie sie fröhlich zu Taylor Swifts Song „The Fate of Ophelia“ tanzt und dabei lächelnd sagt: „Das ist meine Freundin.“ Das Video verbreitete sich rasend schnell, erreichte Millionen Aufrufe und berührte schließlich auch Taylor Swift selbst. Die Sängerin reagierte tief bewegt und unterstützte die GoFundMe-Kampagne der Familie mit einer großzügigen Spende von 100.000 US-Dollar (etwa 85.760 Euro). Swifts großzügige Spende löste eine beeindruckende Welle an Hilfsbereitschaft und Solidarität aus.
