Two all grey swallows are perched on the ground on a rocky shoreline. The swallow on the right is perched on a rock. The swallow on the left is perched on a dog poop looking very proud of itself.

My contribution to #crapphoto is a northern rough-winged swallow happily standing on a dog turd. This swallow was either picking things out of the poop or gleaning insects/larvae from it.

The bottom half of this image is mostly some indistinct greenery and this a classic UK white-painted trig point visible through some grey murk. There is another lump behind that - it's a built cairn with a viewing plaque on the top. There is no view in this photo - the overall vibe is bleak, misty, and generally dreich.

Today on the local hills... in the interests of correcting an obvious bias, I think it's very important to post, occasionally, some crap photos rather than the usually lovely ones of the places we live and visit. Here's the summit of Winder today. Dreich, as they would say in Scotland. 😀

3 photos pasted underneath each other. In the first one you see a bird feeder filled with nuts in front of a blurry background (dark red leaves of a tree and grey sky), it's raining. When you look closer you notice a few white and red feathers sticking out from behind the feeder. In the second picture you can see a great spotted woodpecker lurking out behind the feeder. In he last photo the woodpecker is hanging on the side of the feeder taking aim at the nuts.

He was here again today!

Again, I only managed a few quick snaps before he was gone again.

Speckled Bush-cricket (Leptophyes punctatissima) in the garden this afternoon. I waited ages hoping for a clear shot. It posed here for about ten seconds before it jumped off. Great I thought! Result!😃
