Companies like LinkTree and MySocialLinks are selling these pages for various fees (usually with a free option). Essentially, they are a place to post all of your (personal, brand, or whatever) websites, social profiles, and so on. While these kinds of pages make sense, I’m doing all I can to consolidate on my website. I see dozens of musicians using specialized (just for bands, etc.) and general (Shorby and dozens of others like the ones I listed above) link aggregation. If you are using one of these, it would be great to know how these tools are working for you. I checked out a few of them and decided to try making my own. ## Essentials R-Us So, I created a new “get to know me” page. I’m sure I’ll refine it for who knows how long. But I’m pretty happy with version one. First, there’s one of those photos of me you’ve seen dozens of times across the interwebs. After that, there are minimal words. Also, links to my main social networks — currently, BlueSky, Mastodon, Threads, and LinkedIn — with an added link to my very possibly overwhelming social network page. Next up, I get focused: links to my music release list, EPK (electronic press kit), and “now” page which lists almost everything I do. Next up is a bit more about my brand, muz4now™️. And the fact that I am the only ambassador, employee, and board member. Yeah, that’s right: my company is just me. ## Creative Outpouring Along with information about my brand, there are a few words about my varied creative arts. As a symbol of this, there’s a music video playlist with over 100 of my songs and instrumentals. Finally, I mention a few more creative outlets. Then, there are image-links to my six most recent blog posts. Last, but definitely not least to me, I mention a few things that have no direct relation to music or related creativity. My home life, my love of the outdoors, and my concern for humanity and the planet we live on. ## True Essentials That’s it. Just the essentials. Most of you reading this already know all of this. On the other, it has made me more aware of being down to earth. ## Where Am I? I often have my head in the clouds. (Maybe that’s why I am so drawn to those fluffy things in the sky.) This is probably part of what makes me so driven to pursue writing music. My flow of creative output keeps some part of me fed. This release (Cosmic Theories) definitely fed a part of me that needed to express itself. Between personal, regional, and global stories, there is so much for me to mourn and so much that concerns me. ## Earth I press my feet into the ground. Solid, I feel it uphold me. Daily life is not so solid. Often, I feel swayed around as if in a stormy sea. That swaying led me into creating this suite. I needed something more cosmic, beyond this earthly domain, to slow that unsettling sway. And for whatever weird reason, that made me think of cosmic creation theories. ## Cosmic So, there I was. Back in the recording studio. (Not working on my folk song album.) I had recently updated some sound libraries from Eduardo Tarilante, so they were right in front of me. “Hey, why not use these?” Of course, they turned out to be the perfect tools for me in this project. Key sounds fed into the ideas for the next track. And a suite was born: Cosmic Theories. May it refresh our humanity. I remain hopeful. ## Grumpy and Hopeful I’m hanging out after the winter holidays including the arrival of a new calendar year. Perhaps I’ve had too much time to think. I’m not really happy with what’s happening in our country and in our world. Between AI/LLM, devastation of nature, fascism, and prices gone amuck, I have to keep reminding myself to be grateful for the good in my life. At the same time, I’ve just released another suite of four instrumentals. (Always a hopeful sign.) I’ll share more about that in a moment. My spouse, my dog, our home, our community, circles of friends, live music-making, and more keep bringing joy. I know this stuff is all so amazingly good. And at times, life still feels out of balance and out of my control. ## Release The new music release is “Winter Meant Wonderment“. I set a goal of composing and recording four pieces in four days. I didn’t trust myself to do it, but I did. And if I do say so myself, it came out pretty well. I think you can hear my moodiness in these tracks. If my intentions come through, you can also hear my sense of gratitude and hopefulness. As you know if you’ve been following along, I am often inspired by winter. This season is no exception. There has been precipitation (which I hesitate to call snow) and bitter cold. The canine member of our household and I have romped through it all as many times as possible. This is the source of my wonder and awe that led to these musical pieces. ## Music Geek Stuff In spite of the tight deadline I set for myself, I was determined that the 2 synthesizer songs would be entirely created by me. Yes, this included building the patches. And I did. Five new patches in Pigments 7 by Arturia — though I only ended up using four of them. I was unfamiliar with this synth, so I checked out some pointers from Ether Diver. Listen to Snow Flow to hear these most prominently. I also built six new patches in Omnisphere 3 by Spectrasonics. Again, I only used four of them in this new suite. In addition to “Snow Flow”, these are also the main sounds in “Icy Introit”. Finally, there is the sub-bass sound in all four tracks. That was easily created by me in AAS Ultra Analog VA-3 (Virtual Analog).
