A little different adventure with nature today
#dailynature
Looking through the window into the garden.
Some days, nature seems further away, as though there were a window between you and the world. #DailyNature The birds are in their world today and I am in mine.
The sun segments the bed into an orange. I sit on one wedge, candied by spring. My work on a darker, brooding slice. A spider drops like a jewel thief onto the keyboard's metal jaw. When I'm watching TV - the spider stays, instead it leaves. I hear imaginerary eyes rolling on exit...

A pile of 12 clear plastic insect collection pots with white lids on a patio. There is a brown moth in each of the pots
First garden moth trap of the year resulted in a pile of middle-sized brown moths! Let’s see how many I can remember from last year… 🤔

The sound of crow song
Through the slant of rain
Soothes my mind

A sky mottling from greys to cadmium white, moves in still shot, trees black reach towards it
Clouds the chin of a fin whale,
Impasto striped
pearl glades in pebble swathes,
a single cluster cauliflower
unfurls it's slow body:
caterpillar
dragon
soup.
Air prepared for show,
Listen to what you can see.

Wind-buffeted Cowslips.
Despites the strong, cold, northwesterly and occasional showers of hail, these chalkland Cowslips were standing up to the ordeal very well.
The vernal are prepared for the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune...

Last of the large winter Linnet flocks - twittering finches from yesterday.
Any day now they will be dispersing to find their April breeding territories.
Lovely to see them in such abundance - a less common thing to witness these days.

My Good Morning #DailyNature post from Marbury, Cheshire. Sunrise on the Llangollen Canal. The #FirstBirdOfMyDay today was a noisy back-door robin, followed by blackbird, barn owl, wren, thrush, crow, Fieldfare, yellowhammer… lots to see and listen to early in the day!

Sable, cyan and snowy avian policeman plods atop the tall trees: pear, pine, photinia. Anticipating blue feathers under blue sky with a sleek black grin. A caw like a cackle calls to him, he glides helicopter landing to the other warlock keeper - magpies hunting for donuts in the air.
Wet branches thickly entangled, leaves emerging, looking like opening flowers. Hardly noticeable in the background the wall of a building across the road.

Kitchen window chestnut
March 2026
/////
It’s stormy, raining.
I watch from the kitchen window.
I like rough weather. But today the light-green chestnut buds swaying in the wind steel the show,
leaves emerge laughing definitely in the face of the storm.

Good morning from Marbury, #Cheshire. My #sky today keeps leaping up and throwing water all over us! Birds are flying unusually fast… as long as they are going in the right direction: #windy . #DailyNature #clouds

Resting brain

I didn’t make it out in the light,
so I’ll take a joker tonight: The resting brain after a long day’s plight.

PS: I love that everything natural looks great even dried.
Diagonol cuts - that's how you con the dying they're still living.
Stem deep on a double lens heated shelf. Who can blame the florist for being tempted into gifting such beautiful zombies?
... Perhaps the gardener - or the bees, though they buzz around a sunsetting dahlia undetered

I truly had not forgotten the latest #DailyNature Ostara roundup but winds of internet gods were telling me to slow down - so I listened.
When was the last time you let yourself be a part of wakeful rest? Eyes open, mind quiet, nature infusing...

Good morning from Marbury. The dawn, overstuffed with extravagant promises is spilling them out into the canal, from where they evaporate back into the sky. #DailyNature #life #Cheshire #dawn #SkySky #MorningWalk

Spent the day slopping through clammy ground, finding hidden paths to lower levels of streams, eyes blurred by heat in thickly spread condensation, cooing over lambs licking dew off of grass stems, gabbing with my sister - our existence tied to our watery planet

Berlin Spring

The city noises seem to drown out everything, and yet spring blossoms glow defiantly in the sun, not asking for attention.
Those who can escape the rush for a breath are filled with wonder seeing them.

For my #DailyNature today: a video that my wife shot on our walk this morning: one of our local Barn Owls picking up snacks. It's amazing how much activity is going on if you keep your eyes open (or have helpful neighbours who keep you informed about things they see happening in their gardens!)
Blurred view down to the busy road. In focus a circular splash of a light green lichen and some wildflower leaves.

BERLIN LICHEN

I was asked the other day whether lichen only exist near water.
No, lichen (different kinds) exist pretty much everywhere, including on the stone flower box on my balcony which hosts a variety of lichen.

Blazing Little wren playing hide and seek, doesn't mind me sat near the bridge reading. Blackbird, lapwing, little egret, swan, graylag, Canada goose, robin, song thrush and even a humming bee all at the party 🐦

Happy Ostara - how are you celebrating today?
Familiar fog returned -
woven into sky
like wool rings of jersey,
it is not heat, nor sun
but blossom
unfurling hives, twinkling eyes
rounded cheeks of newborns -
Ostara untwines her hair,
morning dew smooths fray ends
frey beginnings

Spring
March 2026
A yellow apparition on a desolate area in the park drew my eyes & I thought of capturing an explosion of blossoms to celebrate today’s start of #spring. But when I explored this Forsythia the still wrinkled petals fascinated me most. #Nature! #Amazing!
