Lawyer #DingJiaxi is serving a 12-year sentence for subversion. The #China govt has failed to present any evidence substantiating the burden of proof—or to the #UN to support its denial of torture and ill-treatment.

From Ms. Luo Shengchun, wife of imprisoned lawyer #DingJiaxi, a Valentine’s Day message:
"Miles apart, yet our longing never ends.
Oppression crushes our rights, bitterness fills our days.
But we have love, light, and flowers—we have everything."

5 years ago today, #ChinaGov arrested human rights lawyer #DingJiaxi & subjected him to #RSDL with #torture. After extended detention, the court sentenced him to 12 years for #subversion on Apr 10, 2023. The prison continues denying his right to family calls.
As many celebrate Christmas/end-of-year, inspiring activists #DingJiaxi and #XuZhiyong remain in jail 5 years after the Chinese government's egregious 'Xiamen Crackdown' on 26 December 2019.
@ishrglobal.bsky.social stands in solidarity with them & will continue fighting for their prompt release.
5 yrs after the #Xiamen crackdown, #Beijing brutally punishes those who exercise their fundamental rights. #XuZhiyong, #DingJiaxi, and #ZhangZhongshun remain unjustly imprisoned on the charge of "subversion" for peaceful assembly.

2/4 The EU also calls for the immediate + unconditional release of other political prisoners in China like #GulshanAbbas, #AnyaSengdra, #EkparAsat, #ChadrelRinpoche, #ChenPinlin, #ChenYunfei, #RahileDawut, #DingJiaxi, #DingYuande, #GaoZhisheng, #GoSherabGyatso, #GologPalden, #HeFangmei, #HuangQi,
Just so sad. Comparable to the long sentences that we see in China. Like legal scholar #XuZhiyong and human rights lawyer #DingJiaxi who were sentenced to 14 years and 12 years respectively.
Thanks William Yang for the report. So worried about #YuWensheng, #XuYan #XuZhiyong, #DingJiaxi and all the other friends.
