A composite photo of the July 11, 1991, total solar eclipse created by Miloslav Druckmuller reveals a white bird-like pattern in the Sun's corona. This coronal "Sun Bird" that may be seen in the sky during the awe-inspiring "death" & "rebirth" of the Sun in some total solar eclipses inspired a whole flock of mythical birds & bird gods, including the Phoenix and multiple variations thereof, and the Egyptian solar falcon god Horus. It was also perceived as a goose, swan, and heron.
