For our first #historiography Friday we're revisiting #Elagabalus & the establishment of Varian (adj. for Elagabalus) studies & the #Varianist field by #LeonardodeArrizabalagayPrado through a series of conferences which resulted in this work.

While this is one of my favorite coins of #Elagabalus it doesn't quite match the clarity of RIC 61, but that comes at the expense of excluding the parasols. I enjoy seeing how depictions of the baeytl on coins have been used in theoretical reconstructions of the #Elagabalium. #Numismatics
