My wife leans from our red VW campervan, parked in a roadside lay-by with the dramatic backdrop of a blue-tinged glacier, mountain and pale blue sky with drifting cloud in Switzerland. The picture was taken in 1972 when we gave up our jobs and drove that van through Europe and Scandinavia for most of the Spring and Summer months. I wish I could remember the location of this shot. I’d like to revisit and see where the glacier is now.

The interior of a railway carriage on the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway en route from Porthmadog to Caernarfon in 2018 Janet and Patsy. The wood framed carriage has red brocade seats decorated with a diamond gold pattern. Each seat has a wooden table on which volunteers serve drinks and basic meals. Another carriage can be seen through an interconnecting door and other passengers are seen seated. It is raining and a green landscape can be seen through the windows of the carriage. The Welsh Highland Railway (WHR; Welsh: Rheilffordd Eryri) is a restored narrow-gauge railway in the Welsh county of Gwynedd. It runs for a 25-mile route through some stunning scenery. At Porthmadog it connects with the Ffestiniog Railway. Camera: iPhone 5S
