A patch of bright green moss growing across rough tree bark in a shaded woodland. The moss forms a loose, flowing layer rather than a tight cushion, with many small shoots spreading outward and slightly downward, giving a soft, cascading appearance. The surface catches the light with a gentle sheen, making parts of the moss look almost glossy. In the closer view, the individual shoots can be seen more clearly. They are made up of overlapping leaves arranged along slender stems, each leaf smooth and slightly pointed, forming small layered patterns. Some shoots hang or drape slightly, adding to the sense of movement. The moss is growing on the bark of an old tree where bits of debris have collected, creating a thin layer of soil. The overall impression is of a delicate, flowing green growth quietly covering the surface of the wood.

I see this lovely moss in the Devon woods from time-to-time, not been able to place it...it has a sort of sheen and the shoots cascade elegantly. Usually on very mature bark where a bit of debris has caught forming soil. This colony was on oak. One of my favourites.
