I'll try to make a proper #FromTheInspirationFolder later with more of his stuff but I had to share this one cause it's just so absolutely perfect 💛

An idea borrowed from @vmaderna.bsky.social - share some of your inspirations!
I have many, but the 3 most important ones (whose work I came across in my formative years, creatively speaking) are Tex Avery, André Franquin and Raymond Macherot. I'm not sure if it shows.

These never saw print as the publisher lost the rights to the book.

Her Ernest and Celestine books are simply gorgeous, I adore the sensibility and the feel of intimacy in her drawings. Super expressive body language in her characters too - just marvelous.

Another big favorite (yes I have many).
I'm always blown away by his masterful work. The bold shapes and carefully crafted compositions, the fantastic combinations of organic/geometric and textural/flat, the moods. Just so unique.

Another of my favorites #FromTheInspirationFolder
Hermann Vogel (1854-1921) created the most wonderful worlds, chock-full of charming details and intricate linework.
Just such a perfect example of the utter magic of drawing.

First post #FromTheInspirationFolder - gonna be trying out formats & stuff so bear with me!
Starting with my fave of all time, Georges Beuville (1902-1982) and his wonderfully expressive work.
Years ago, over at the Birdsite, I used to do inspiration posts on Mondays to share art I love (usually but not exclusively old and/or not super well known). Been thinking of bringing that back but over here + on Mastodon.
Don't wanna stick to a day so I'll use a hashtag:
