A cracking sunrise at Gibraltar Point yesterday as the rising tide pushed all the gulls off beach

on the bottom left there's a female hand, the thumb and first finger are touching the edge of a tiny white porcelain flower that's part of a larger sculpture. The flower is about 5mm across. It's joined to a cluster of other porcelain flowers, leaves, lichens and shells by long entwined strands of porcelain that create a swirling shape. In the top right there's a glimpse of another part of the sculpture with tiny porcelain shells and leaves on three strands of porcelain making a swirling circle.

Absolutely delighted - these super-fragile porcelain sculptures survived the heat of the kiln!! 😃

Unfortunately the Western Subalpine Warbler was not re-found today, but Gibraltar Point still had: Ring Ouzel, two Hooded Crows, Wheatear, male Hen Harrier, Raven, the usual raptors - this proving that a day birding at Gib is never wasted. #lincsbirding #gibraltarpoint

A visit to Gibraltar Point produced a fine migrant Firecrest favouring a birch and pine trees. It was heard singing on occasions too. A few Willow Warblers, 2 Sedge Warblers, Red Kite and a Green Hairstreak were some of the other highlights. #lincsbirding #ukbirding #GibraltarPoint

Photograph taken fromthe furthest southeast place at Gibraltar Point (near Skegness, Lincolnshire, England) when the tide was rushing in. Whenever my tripod was in place and had taken a 30-second exposure, I had to run back about 100 feet for the water. I love the crepuscular rays (sunbeams that originate when the sun appears to be just above or below a layer of clouds during the twilight period). The rays remind me of the sentence, “There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in”, in Leonard Cohen's song Anthem. The song's lyrics convey the idea that everything is flawed, but there is still hope and that light can come through the cracks. I see it as embracing imperfection. Three large white wading birds (spoonbills) with long black legs and dark, flat bills with a paler spoon-shaped end. The bird on the left has its beak open and is calling to the other two who are facing it. The rearmost bird of the other two had spread its wings in a display, and you can see its black wingtips which are hidden when the wings are folded.

There was some spoonbill drama going down here, which afforded the opportunity to see the black edges to the bird's wings, which are usually hidden making their plumage appear otherwise all white. #birds #RSPB #GibraltarPoint
