A few #ladybirds from a wander around @nenature.bsky.social #GosforthNatureReserve today. Particularly happy with the Eyed Ladybird, which brings my site total to 14 species ๐
Quick, catch that fish!๐
Take a look at these stunning photos, taken at #GosforthNatureReserve!
You can tell Kingfishers apart by looking at their beaks. Males have an black beak, whereas females have an orange patch on the bottom of theirs.
Thank you to S&JPhotography for these great photos!๐ท
With new wetland development at #GosforthNatureReserve, now is an exciting time to take a look at how this new habitat is already encouraging more wildlife at the reserve.
Many Little Egrets have been spotted feeding in the mud where the reeds have been cleared, which is a great sign!

A timeless shot of a Cormorant at #GosforthNatureReserve
Cormorants can be spotted in inland freshwater and along the coast.๐
Did you know that although Cormorants are amazing divers, there feathers aren't actually waterproof?
๐ธThank you to Ray Haldane for these wonderful photos.

Did you know, the Common Tern is nick-named the 'Sea Swallow'?๐ชถ
Not one, but two Tree Bumblebee nests discovered along the #BeeWalk transect at #GosforthNatureReserve! ๐๐
Unlike many other bumblebees, Tree Bumblebees often nest above ground โ in bird boxes, lofts, or holes in trees, which can make them easier to spot! ๐

On Sunday I went lichen hunting at the #GosforthNatureReserve to practice my field observation and ID skills, and these are a few specimens I found.
A great 'Wildlife Detectives: Creatures of the Ouse Burn' session today! Our young naturalists did a fab job spotting wildlife and crafting clay creatures. ๐ฆ๐จ

How amazing to hear from our brilliant volunteer, Chris Wren, about his love for Otters on tonight's #Winterwatch! Chris does an incredible job monitoring mammals of all kinds at #GosforthNatureReserve and we couldnโt be more grateful for his time and expertise! @bbcspringwatch.bsky.social ๐ฆฆโญ
