#HHPs are of concern due to their adverse effects on human health and the environment. A large number of HHPs continue to be used and their regulation is very uneven.
PAN, through the HHPs WG, aims to increase awareness and promote HHPs phase-out at the international, regional, and national levels.
Ludovic Bernaudat of @unep.org highlights that sustainable alternatives to #HHPs go far beyond chemical substitutes. They include new practices, technologies & nature-based solutions. For true uptake, they must be affordable, available on ground & supported by strong info & capacity.
We are happy to invite you to our official BRS COPs joint side event "Accelerating the transition from #HHPs to biopesticides and #agroecological alternatives".
🗓️ When? 2 May, 18:15-19:45 CEST.
📌 Where? At the ICCG room 14, and/or online.

⚠️ In December 2024, PAN updated the Consolidated List of Banned Pesticides and the List of #HHPs as a contribution to the global commitment to phase out HHPs as mandated by the UNEA Resolution on HHPs and by the newly adopted Global Framework on Chemicals.
With the understanding of the adverse effects of #HHPs comes the need to replace agrochemicals with #agroecology.
With the final meetings of the CBD COP 16 approaching, PAN highlights the synergies between commitments on agriculture, pesticides, and food systems across key UN frameworks.
