Also updates knowledge about #introducedSpecies in πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ & πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬.
In πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬ & Peninsular πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ, the 🐌 known as Sinotaia guangdungenis [1] is now Bakyietaia guangdungensis.
What we thought was the same 🐌 in Sabah, πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ Borneo [2], is a different species, B. wilhelmi.

A surprise guest in my usually native garden is this bright red Scarlet Flax (Linum grandiflorum), an introduced species native to Algeria and Tunisia. It is a delightful color pop in my otherwise orange poppy field. #flowers #naturephotography #photography #introducedspecies #gardening

A mid Autumn flower surprised me as I kayaked the slow back area of a large pond. Water Forget-Me-Not (Myosotis scorpioides). It has 5 sky blue petals with a yellow center. It was introduced to NA from Europe or Asia. Here, it’s seen in its floating mat form.

The system worked simulating a future #ClimateChange scenario in an Atlantic and Mediterranean Marina. In both cases the local communities differed between the heated and the control. Yet, the response of #IntroducedSpecies #NIS #InvasiveSpecies was opposite profiting in one but not the other marina

New here on Bluesky, so I will present myself with a series of posts discussing my favorite research subjects: Community composition in marine urban habitats, #introducedSpecies and #ClimateChange as well as #MarineHeatWaves

I had no idea really. I don’t know if #camels are farmed in #Australia. They were brought to the #outback from the #CanaryIslands of all places. Now they number #onemillion and are considered a #feralpest as they are an #introducedspecies that competes with #nativemarsupials and destroy #habitat.

Britain has a new snake species – should climate change mean it is allowed to stay? This species could be the poster child for conservation on a warming planet.

@uk.theconversation.com piece on our recent paper on the Aesculapian snake in N. Wales, where we ask how Anthropocene realities should change the way we think about non-native species just North of the native range.
