Framgarden Pale Ale is on tap and drinking exactly 2 weeks after it was brewed. Tastes pretty good, extremely tropical thanks to not only the kveik, but also the Galaxy and Sultana (Denali) hops.

8.5 litres of rye porter into the fermenter. The wort smells fantastic.
Hoping that the Espe #kveik yeast will do its thing at 25°C and give us a slightly fruity ale.
Brewed using Admiral and Fuggles hops.
Brewed with a good friend, over good beers; what more can you ask for? #homebrewing

I've got my wild abbey culture and Framgarden kveik in yeast starters to get ready for the brew day tomorrow. These are now in the fermentation chamber* at 30.5°C/87°F

*The downstairs bathroom with a space heater

Our students w/ @balintnemeth.bsky.social really nailed it, their own DNS isolation from #kveik bacteria, and their own PCR reactions, perfect! Next step is Sanger sequencing. Some strains are already sequenced, some will be complete surprises even for us!

Beautiful aging colonies of Rhodococcus erythropolis, a soil Actinomycetes bacterium that we isolated from a commercial multistrain #kveik starter culture with students! Probably a rare contaminant, maybe from barley?

A preliminary overview on the #bacteria isolated from #kveik beer starters! They are the basis of our BSc student science project, and every student group got 4 of them to compare and identify:) Results are gradually coming in, this week we will know more about extracellular enzyme production!

One more beer fermentation, this time with Framgarden #kveik #yeast at 35°C in the oven! Not authentic, mostly wheat and West Coast hops, so just an experiment for a kveik white IPA.

Looks primitive but the ginger beer is on its way. First time using a kveik style yeast shall be interesting.
