American Black Tern (Chlidonias niger surinamensis), Long Nanny, Northumberland. A train trip to Northumberland took me to, amongst other places, Long Nanny where this returning visitor brought me much pleasure. This year she has mated with an Arctic Tern and produced three eggs which are due to hatch (if they are viable) shortly. A subspecies of the Black Tern and another beautiful bird.
