Everyone should benefit from trees no matter where they live. It's called Tree Equity.
The next Scot Gov should recognise the benefits of Tree Equity ensuring more people can enjoy better air quality, more shade & shelter, more nature & improved climate resilience. ➡️ buff.ly/e2KzGBr #MairTreesPlease

To support jobs & to protect our environment from imported pests and diseases, we should only be planting trees that are UK & Ireland Sourced and Grown (#UKISG standard). Our priorities for the next Scottish Government ➡️ buff.ly/e2KzGBr

Scotland's rainforest is a precious habitat. It is threatened by deer overgrazing, invasive non-native species, and fragmentation. The next Scottish Government should build on the incredible foundations laid in the last Parliament and continue work to save #ScotlandsRainforest #MairTreesPlease

Nature budgets are often the first to take a hit when Scottish Government is looking for cash. If we are serious about the nature crisis, nature budgets must be increased to make nature restoration targets (including woodland creation) possible without reducing those targets. #MairTreesPlease

Why Britain has a deer problem Deer numbers have rocketed over the last 40 years and particularly since the Covid-19 pandemic.

It's clear our native and ancient trees need more protection. It's still too easy to chop them down or damage them - there are gaps in existing protections.

New legislation could close these gaps and protect Scotland's native trees for the future.

Graphic with blue background, grey leaves and a WTS logo that reads, 'The next Scottish Government should create new Forestry Grant Scheme options for riparian, montane and urban woodlands.'

The Forestry Grant Scheme (FGS) is the most important fund for woodland creation in Scotland. It should be improved to include new standalone options for priority areas where it is currently inadequate - including for riparian, montane and urban settings.

Binding targets are important, and so is action to deliver them. The next Scottish Government should create a minimum of 18,000 hectares of new woodland every year, and at least half of that (minimum 9,000 hectares) should be native woodland.
