Not a lot of people grow sweet potatoes this for far north. I wanted to concentrate on some super nutritious foods in my garden this summer.

We had an exceptionally cool spring and then when June came it got hotter than Hades. These taters like the heat.

I put the last seeds and plants in my garden today. We got some rain so they are off to a great start. Now, all we have to do is weed, water, weed, reseed, weed, pick, and weed some more. Also, mow around the beds now and then. Heck ya, this is fun 🌱

Spring is moving fast. Seeds are still being planted, temps all over the place, doing my best to stay focused.

Delicious pink tulips with pointy white-ish tips echoing the pink heart-shaped blooms on the bleeding heart (Dicentra formosa) bushy plant in the background.

The tulips are starting to fade, much to my sadness. Up next will be allium, iris, and lily.

I like the way the pink tulips (a favorite!) blend with the bleeding heart.

Five dark purple tulips blooming. They are glorious. They make me so happy.

Five dark purple tulips blooming. They are glorious. They make me so happy.

The tulips took their time this year, and the squirrels truly decimated them.

But now what's left of them are happening and I love them so much. I'm going to keep planting them, despite the stinking squirrels.

This is an ornamental Nanking Cherry oh my G. It is a rather short and squat bush with pink and white flowers.

It’s still cold here in Wisconsin, but some plants are valiantly trying to show color.

Here is a Nanking cherry.

A Purpus honeysuckle, Lonicera x purpusii 'Winter Beauty,' a lanky shrub, deciduous in our climate, with long, skinny, currently leafless branches covered in small, white flowers. The flowers are white, with yellow anthers and five petals, four of which are fused into a tiny, scalloped-edged lace cravat. They smell strongly like lemon-scented soap, with an acidic, slightly musty undernote.
