Mister Scary Creeps Onto The NES Publisher Dalyen Retro Games and developer Calgames present Mister Scary: Where Are You, a retro platformer for a retro system, now being crowdfunded on Kickstarter. The game is complete, and the funds are just to publish the thing physically (as well as bring Mister Scary into the real world…more on that in a bit). Mister Scary is a short purple monster with a gigantic snout, who was created by the developer’s toddler. He’s on a mission to rescue his missing family, which is a journey that takes him through six Halloween-themed stages (note that the physical doesn’t ship until November, but the digital should get to your inbox sooner). Mister Scary has two attack moves, depending on the condition: he can jump and bop the heads of his enemies, or if he’s just eaten something spicy, he can spit a fireball out and burn them up from a distance. Along the way, Mister Scary can look out for Scary Tokens — if he collects fifteen, he earns an extra life. When the going gets too hairy, Scary can duck — he’s invulnerable to damage in this state, but of course he cant move.
