Wasting your time with ellensartandpets account, just another ableist car brained idiot & deserves nothing but add to the block list. We know the elderly & people with disabilities cycle. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid #CyclingEasierThanWalking

Very much so, took me ages to find the right ergonomics to suit my disability but once I had, it was a winner. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid #CyclingEasierThanWalking

Worrying lack of recognition that tipping is _safety_ issue for #Disabled #cycling - many of us (but not me) ride 3+ wheelers that are more likely to tip. Humps massively increase tipping risks, especially if, as illustrated they adjoin horizontal deflection of the cycle track. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid

The way I cycle I'm surprised they haven't flagged my ebike rides as std cycles. 😂😂😂😂😂 #MyCycleMyMobilityAid

Would've been good 2 talk more/2 more ppl abt how those of us who use mobility aids need space to store & charge our mobility aids in our homes (& not face rules that ban us), but even with limited opportunities to do that, it was a really worthwhile day. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid #MyWheelsMyMobilityAid

For those of us where hire cycles don't work (which includes many Disabled people), the thoughts are VERY welcome, though - the fact there is already security on-site can make all the difference, if adequate provision is made. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid #MyWheelsMyMobilityAid

Thank you for sharing your experience. Few people think of the fact that #CyclingsEasierThanWalking & therefore that cycles represent amazing mobility aids for a lot of #DisabledPeople & people with a variety of health conditions.

Actually, there are lots of ppl who cycle who can’t “just get off and push”. Not all identify as Disabled – there are many elderly cyclists in this category, too. But Equality Act 2010 applies in any case. Telling people to ‘get off and push’ is likely to fall foul of EA2010. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid

Coz it makes my disability dissappear & give me my independence outside... #CyclingEasierThanWalking #MyCycleMyMobilityAid

Drawing of a wheelchair user, using a power add-on with a manual wheelchair. She is drawn with light brown skin and long brown hair in a ponytail and wearing a dark blue dress that comes close to her knees. She is wearing sunglasses and reaching forward, holding onto the handlebar of the power add-on. The front casters of her orange-coloured wheelchair are lifted slightly by the light blue power add-on. Behind the lightweight wheelchair, a quite large bag is visible hanging down behind the back of the wheelchair.

"Everyone deserves safe, accessible transport.

That’s why we’re extending e-scooter trials to 2028 and expanding them to new towns to learn how best to regulate them.

We’re also looking at our mobility aid laws so disabled people can use the devices they need for independence." Accompanied with a photo, the alt text for which was "Hire escooters parked in a line in a designated parking area", image attribution Department for Transport.

"The current regulations are nearly 40 years old and do not account for the devices people need to use".

Find out why we’re so excited that the Government has announced it's planning to review mobility aid law to make it fit for purpose.

Easy to miss, but important. At @wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk we've been working towards this moment for years - the DfT has publicly announced that it is looking at sorting out mobility aid laws. 🎉 Our #MyCycleMyMobilityAid campaign looks like it is paying off.

Once again for those in the back: People who can’t drive because of:
health conditions,
age (too young!),
finances (can’t afford a car),
space (nowhere to park),
environmental concerns,
etc
…. very often can cycle & need to cycle to make basic utility journeys!

Today I learnt that my local hospital has no accessible cycle parking. (Or it’s hidden from both patients and staff).

But there’s some lovely brand new covered parking for the well muscled on road bikes.

Also ebikes compensate those with mobility disabilities than reduces the effort, it makes it so we can continue to cycle than give up cycling. And we know ebikes are not motorcycles. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid #CyclingEasierThanWalking

Well I guess if you look for a certain type then you get your choice of views. Whereas many who follow me sure aren't ableist & want infra for all no matter on their age or ability...

I couldn’t find a mobility scooter that was both ok on non-tarmac paths and allowed on trains, other than to use a cycle as a mobility aid - but then you can’t use it on pavements or indoors. The tech is far ahead of the law on “invalid carriages” and so we have the #MyCycleMyMobilityAid campaigns.

And for someone with a disability continuing declining my mobility for 30+ years, I'm pretty fit.

At #ActiveCityYork, great to hear Sarah Storey, GMcr active travel commissioner talk about the need to update the law about what mobility aids are allowed where. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid

'The Met Police confiscated my wheelchair for 19 days' Israel Vidal's wheelchair was taken by police because it had an electric attachment.

Police should not be confiscating #Disabled people’s necessary equipment. Isra’s story illustrates Met bad practice and the need to sort out the law around mobility aids. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid.
