#NWP either have a hard time keeping up or just love to make a spectacle: here's a motion calling for an emergency public meeting for a railway consultation that I'm told is already planned for the #NewWest railway technical committee. It's redundant make-work: they have 8 months to figure this out.

Another #NIMBY hypocrisy occurs when people resist addiction or unhousing remedies EVERYWHERE—when Abbotsford MLA Bruce Banman & Burnaby's Wallace Pong resist projects in *other* communities. When they and groups like #NWP literally *campaign* on opposing remedies like #HousingFirst in #NewWest.

Here's another article, from @timescolonist.bsky.social, reporting on a tour of Victoria's iteration of #TinyTown. Digging through reportage on the Victoria shelter reveals a lot of positive discourse around the project. I think the positives outweigh the negatives here, despite #NWP & #NIMBY lies.
Daniel Fontaine also speaks of wanting more “boots on the ground” and more “people who are actually delivering public services” – this project is exactly that at a moment when #NewWest and it's unhoused residents need it most. #NWP are ignoring those values here just to try to score campaign points.
This #NWP post is also hypocritical. Daniel Fontaine says “City Hall needs to know what lane it's in and it needs to stay in it”. Here, City Hall doing just that by getting out of the way so BC housing can provide something that New West desperately needs. NWP's post flouts Fontaine's values. Why?

“NO to a Good Neighbour Agreement” (GNA) is BS because the project already includes stronger standards. Council merely named these measures accurately before approving, as #NWP knows. Griping about what they're named is misleading. Here's some evidence of that from Feb 23 #NewWest Council minutes.

Update #2: I received a pretty clear & constructive email from #BCHousing re the nature of these meetings. It redoubles my sense that encouraging people to crash tonight's event is a pretty irresponsible stunt. Here I'm sharing the letter I received and my feedback to #NWP.
Just #NewWest elector group #NWP misinforming the public about the nature of a BC housing info session, suggesting it's a townhall organized by West End activists NIMBYing the shelter coming to the south end of 20th Street. Create chaos, campaign on the chaos, repeat. Who's organizing whom?
Our #NWP councillors do spend a LOT of time flooding social media in pursuit of clicks. It may even be an effective campaign tactic—albeit at the expense of their duty to the city and to their constituents. Especially when the content is so misleading and mistake-riddled.
