At the OSARAGI Jiro Memorial Museum, an Egyptian statue of Bastet is displayed on the exterior wall.
OSARAGI Jiro was a versatile author who wrote popular fiction, historical novels, contemporary stories, non-fiction, new kabuki plays, and children's tales.
His notable works include The Kurama Tengu Series and The Forty-seven Rōnin.
Although he had a wife, he was famously devoted to cats, calling them his “lifelong companions.”
He affectionately referred to the Bastet statue on the wall as the “lion cat.”
It is said that he cared for no fewer than 500 cats, including strays.
Inside the museum, cat ornaments can be found everywhere, adding charm to its exhibits.
