Standing in April light
Watching a storm
Brew over the vale.
There's a taste of
Stirred water, permanence,
And tested iron on the wind.
Two ducks forage
The under-bank.
I like it here.
First tea of the day awaits.

So grateful to have three poems in the first issue of Sangre Magazine, a literary magazine of the San Luis Valley! My family has deep roots there, and it’s an honor to be part of this awesome publication! #poetry #naturewriting #colorado #outdoors #sanluis #ecopoetry #naturepoetry
[ID: A dark blue book cover that reads Wildness Unafraid at top. A picture of a Raven watching a beautiful orange and purple sunrise from a tree perch with stars and the moon still in sight. At the bottom of the book cover it says poems and Tim Murphy].
My new poetry collection, Wildness Unafraid, is officially out! Can buy on Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and Kelsay Books. It tracks the beauty and wonder of the world in the age of climate crisis.

It didn't behave
like anything you had
ever imagined. The wind
tore at the trees, the rain
fell for days slant and hard.
The back of the hand
to everything. I watched...

White fur in spring's first light—
a soft cartographer of green.
Nose sketches secret maps in soil,
tiny footprints call the bulbs awake.
You keep the day's small promise:
a bright witness to new mornings.

Rosey chery blossom blooms against cerulean sky with a starched apple blossom neighbour - From an April gone by
Oh April,
how you
fall.
With invisible rain
camouflaging blossom,
diving feathered hunger
gliding floats of tourists, overzealous plans
needy comfort
speeches of air
quiet of heart.
A year
just falls
apart

An original poem inspired by Upanishadic thought The ant moves through dust, yet leaves the earth renewed - a silent architect shaping tomorrow’s soil, grain by grain. The bee drifts from bloom to bloom, taking only sweetness, yet gifting the world a thousand blossoms in return. And the human being, crowned with thought and memory, stands between creation and destruction. When he forgets his harmony with the living world, forests fall and the earth grows silent. But when he remembers his place in the great rhythm, his hands become instruments of renewal, and his intelligence becomes a blessing, not a burden. From the ant, learn to build. From the bee, learn to give. From yourself, learn to awaken. ~ Yashvant
When we remember our place in the great rhythm, intelligence becomes a blessing.

Sometimes,
The canal is silent
Biding time
Keeping counsel.
Don't ask
Let things be.
At other times,
It reaches out
With whispers
That sing soft and sad
Holding memories
Of old friends.

Through the slant of rain

A sky mottling from greys to cadmium white, moves in still shot, trees black reach towards it
Clouds the chin of a fin whale,
Impasto striped
pearl glades in pebble swathes,
a single cluster cauliflower
unfurls it's slow body:
caterpillar
dragon
soup.
Air prepared for show,
Listen to what you can see.

Dusk held its breath—no lanterns sigh,
Meadows dim where tiny beacons died.
Hands remember jars of summer light,
and empty grass remembers night.
A single ember waits in shadowed grass,
for every lost soft, blinking lore, let darkness teach the light once more.

An abstract, expressive oil painting capturing the intersection of industry and nature. Silvery, metallic strokes of tin and zinc bleeding into deep mossy greens and ochre soil. The composition is heavy and tactile, suggesting the weight of machinery pressing into soft, ancient pasture under a bruised, overcast sky.
Dalston:
'The tankers arrive in a heavy, wet rotation, turning the grass of the county into powder and tin.' Not every poem in this book is about a fell.

the stars rest on my shoulder,
the immense vista of silence
between the lines,
waits at the edge of the sleep,

At this time,
It was still dark
And moonlight
Shivered silver
Amongst the rushes.
But now it is
Broad daylight
And it feels as if
The day has begun
Without me.
(Which it is quite at liberty to do so)

A small cluster of celandine. Cups of yellow petals nestled among a raft of green leaves and goosegrass. They are growing beside a busy path. The answer to that question is, of course, many people throughout the long cycles of history. It is only today that the common is equated with unnoteworthy.
Who knew
That the small
'Inconsequential'
'Irrelevant'
Things
In the end
Would turn out
To be the most important?
