A display case showing part of the Neupotz hoard, presented like a traditional Parisian kitchenware shop. The collection includes serving platters, pans, ladles, sieves, cauldrons, iron implements, and a millstone. The entire hoard also included iron tools, fetters, and decorative items as well as coins and jewelry.
Another display case showing part of the Neupotz hoard. This one contains more platters, sieves, ladles, pitchers, and cooking pots along with weapons and a silver spoon.
Sieves and knives from the Neupotz hoards. These sieves, often made by drilling holes in the bottom of bronze pans in decorative patterns, are frequently found as grave goods east of the Rhine. They were most likely used to strain wine as part of a drinking ceremony and showed the wealth and sophistication of their owners.
Not a recipe today. I was in #Berlin this weekend and got to see the #NeuesMuseum. Looking at the 3rd century Neupotz treasure hoard gives you a fresh appreciation of the value that kitchen implements represented.
